Collection: Industrial Rotary Screw Air Compressors

How Does a Rotary Screw Air Compressor Work?

A rotary screw air compressor uses a pair of meshing helical rotors. As the rotors turn, the volume of trapped air decreases, increasing its pressure before discharge.

This rotary compression process supports relatively steady airflow and is commonly used in industrial operations with sustained compressed-air demand.

5 HP to 20 HP Air Compressors

Lower-horsepower models can support workshops, smaller industrial facilities, and applications with moderate compressed air requirements.

Selection should be based on required airflow in CFM and operating pressure rather than horsepower alone.

30 HP to 100 HP Industrial Air Compressors

These compressors provide options for manufacturing equipment, pneumatic machinery, and production environments with higher compressed air demand.

MasterAire also offers configurations with additional air treatment and storage equipment.

125 HP to 250 HP Rotary Screw Compressors

Higher-horsepower models are available for demanding industrial compressed air applications.

Evaluate actual airflow demand, operating pressure, electrical requirements, installation conditions, and expected operating hours before selecting equipment.

Complete Compressed Air Systems

Selected MasterAire rotary screw compressor systems combine equipment such as:

●        Refrigerated air dryer

●        Compressed air receiver tank

●        Precision air filters

●        Automatic drains

These components support compressed air storage, moisture management, filtration, and distribution.

MasterAire precision air filters are available in three grades. The same ratings apply across all filter sizes for 5 HP to 250 HP compressors, with a maximum operating pressure of 175 PSI:

●        C Grade: 3 micron / 5 ppm oil

●        T Grade: 1 micron / 1 ppm oil

●        A Grade: 0.01 micron / 0.01 ppm oil

ASME (US) or CRN (Canada) certification for air receiver tanks is not included with standard models. It can be provided on an order-by-order basis at an additional cost. Contact the MasterAire team for details.

How to Choose a Rotary Screw Air Compressor

Before selecting an industrial air compressor, consider:

●        Required airflow in CFM

●        Operating pressure in PSI

●        Motor horsepower

●        Daily operating hours

●        Voltage and electrical requirements

●        Installation environment

●        Air quality requirements

●        Maintenance accessibility

●        Future compressed air demand

Horsepower alone should not determine compressor size. Required CFM, PSI, duty cycle, and actual operating conditions are equally important.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rotary screw air compressor?

A rotary screw air compressor uses a pair of meshing helical rotors to reduce the volume of trapped air and increase its pressure. This design supports relatively steady airflow and is commonly used for sustained industrial demand.

What sizes of rotary screw air compressors does MasterAire offer?

MasterAire lists rotary screw air compressors ranging from 5 HP to 250 HP. Available airflow, pressure, and electrical specifications vary by model.

What is the difference between a rotary screw and reciprocating air compressor?

Rotary screw compressors use rotating screws for compression, while reciprocating compressors use pistons. The appropriate technology depends on airflow demand, operating schedule, pressure requirements, and application.

What is included in a complete compressed air system?

Selected MasterAire systems combine a rotary screw compressor with equipment such as a refrigerated air dryer, receiver tank, precision filters, and automatic drains.

How do I choose the right industrial air compressor?

Determine the required CFM and PSI first. Then compare horsepower, voltage, operating hours, air treatment requirements, installation conditions, and expected future demand.

What filter grades are available with MasterAire compressed air systems?

MasterAire precision air filters are available in C Grade (3 micron / 5 ppm oil), T Grade (1 micron / 1 ppm oil), and A Grade (0.01 micron / 0.01 ppm oil). These ratings apply to all filter sizes from 5 HP to 250 HP, with a maximum operating pressure of 175 PSI.
